Just get off the couch and start climbing!

Chamonix, France: Check out this exhilarating experience! Listen, we are not bodybuilders, gymnasts, or any other kind of athlete with tremendous upper body strength. But with a little skill and a big sense of adventure- you can have a thrilling day ice climbing a frozen waterfall in France.

We used Compagnie des Guides Chamonix for a private session for Ice Fall Climbing. Its great for beginners and those looking to work on their skills, as the Chamonix Valley has ice falls for all levels. The Cognes Valley in Italy is nearby so you can climb there too. The cost was approximately $100-$150pp (depending on the size of your group). Our guide picked us up at our hotel for a day of climbing and off we went! We brought heavy duty hiking boots (compatible with crampons) and a layer of waterproof pants. (The guide had pants to borrow as well.) The company provided harnesses and helmets, but we had our ski gear with us. (Gloves, coat etc.) Bring snacks with you too- it can take a bit of energy to climb that wall of ice!
